Custom home theaters with Dolby Atmos sound and a big-screen picture, designed around your room, your seating and the way your family actually watches.

Home Theater Design
A great home theater starts with the room, not the equipment list. We look at the size and shape of the space, where people will sit, where daylight comes in, and how the room gets used the rest of the week. A dedicated basement theater and a family room that hosts movie night need very different plans.
From there we work out the screen size and viewing distance, the speaker layout, where the equipment will live and how every cable gets from one place to another without showing. The result should sound and look like a cinema while still feeling like part of your home, and it should be simple enough that anyone in the family can start a movie without hunting for the right remote.

Dolby Atmos
Dolby Atmos adds height to surround sound. Along with the speakers around your seats, it uses speakers in or on the ceiling, or upward-firing modules, so sound can move over your head: rain on a roof, a plane passing above, a crowd that surrounds you. Many movies, shows and streaming titles are mixed in Atmos, and a compatible receiver places each sound where it belongs in your room.
Whether it's worth it depends on the space. In a dedicated theater, overhead speakers make a big, obvious difference. In a living room, a pair of well-placed in-ceiling speakers can add that same sense of space without taking up any floor. We'll tell you plainly which upgrades will matter most in your room. For the speaker side of the job, see our surround sound and in-wall speaker installation page.
Placement & Tuning
Speaker placement does more for sound than almost any equipment upgrade. We plan everything around the main seating position: the center channel aimed at ear level so dialogue stays clear, front speakers spaced evenly around the screen, surrounds beside or just behind the listeners, and overhead speakers positioned for the seats rather than the middle of the ceiling.
Bass is the tricky part, because every room has spots where low notes pile up and spots where they disappear. Subwoofer location gets tested in the room instead of guessed. Once everything is in place, the system is calibrated so each speaker plays at the right level and timing from where you actually sit, which is the difference between a pile of good speakers and a theater that sounds like one.
The Picture
Both can be the right answer. A large TV is bright, sharp and simple, and it holds up well in rooms with windows and daytime viewing. A projector and screen give you a true cinema-size image, and they shine in rooms where you can control the light, like most basements.
We help you weigh screen size against seating distance, ceiling height and lighting, then build the rest of the room around that choice. If a projector makes sense, our projector and screen installation covers mounting, screen selection and wiring. If a big TV fits better, we handle TV mounting and wire concealment so the screen sits at the right height with nothing hanging below it.
Equipment
Receivers, amplifiers and streaming boxes need airflow and a way to receive remote signals, but they don't need to sit in the middle of the room. Depending on the house, the gear can go in a ventilated cabinet, a nearby closet, a rack in the basement, or even another room entirely. On one project we moved all of the equipment into the garage so there would be no wires at all in the viewing room.
When equipment lives out of sight, control matters even more. We set things up so one remote or one app turns the system on and switches between sources, keeping things easy for the whole family. That's the idea behind everything we do: technology that makes life simpler, not more complicated.
Room Types
A basement theater usually gives you the most freedom. Light is easy to control, there's often room for rows of seating, and a projector, a full surround layout and acoustic treatment can all fit. The planning focuses on sight lines, sound and keeping the space comfortable for long movies.
A living room has to do more than one job. The TV often goes over the fireplace, the speakers need to blend in with the decor, and the system has to work for the news in the morning as well as a movie at night. In-ceiling and in-wall speakers, a carefully mounted screen and equipment kept out of view let the room look like a living room and sound like a theater. We've built both kinds, and the design starts with how you want the room to feel.

Questions
Often, yes. It depends on whether your receiver supports Atmos and whether ceiling or upward-firing speakers can be added to the room. We look at what you already have and tell you what can stay and what would need to change.
No. Plenty of great setups live in family rooms and finished basements that are used for other things too. The design just changes to fit, with speakers that blend in and a screen choice that works with the room's light.
That's a big part of the design. We set up control so turning on a movie or switching to a game console takes one remote or one app, not a stack of them.
Send us a message through the Contact Us form with a few details about the room, how you plan to use it and any equipment you already own, and we'll follow up to talk through the options.
